Solar System Planning Checklist

Use this checklist before your site survey. The more detail you can bring, the more accurately we can size your system and price your quote.

Your Load — What you want to power
  • List every electrical device you want the solar system to run
  • Note the wattage of each device (usually on the label or in the manual)
  • Mark which devices are critical (must run) vs. nice-to-have
  • Count how many of each device you have
  • Note if any devices have a high startup (surge) current — e.g., fridges, ACs, pumps
Hours of Use
  • Estimate how many hours per day each device runs
  • Identify peak usage periods (morning, evening, or all day)
  • Note if your usage changes significantly on weekends
  • Consider whether you want the system to cover 24-hour loads (e.g., freezers)
Your Current Setup
  • What's your current power source? (PHCN only / generator / existing inverter / existing solar)
  • If you have a generator, note its kVA rating
  • If you have an existing inverter or solar, note the brand and capacity
  • Are you looking to replace or complement what you have?
Installation Site
  • Is your roof flat, pitched, or accessible for panel mounting?
  • What is the approximate usable roof area? (Even a rough estimate helps)
  • Is there shade on the roof between 9am and 3pm? (Shade severely reduces output)
  • Where would the inverter and battery be located? (Must be ventilated, not in direct sun)
  • Is there space for a dedicated battery/inverter room or enclosure?
Budget & Timeline
  • What is your approximate budget range?
  • Are you comfortable with a phased installation (e.g., panels now, more battery later)?
  • When do you need the system ready?
  • Do you require financing options? (Ask your installer)
